Angus, you are not the only one. Occasionally, I ride my track bike on LUNCH IN NOCATEE (Tuesdays at 10:00) and on the TGI THURSDAY TOUR de DURBIN CROSSING(Thursdays at 9:00). Also, get on the NFBC TOUR DE DURBIN Facebook page. As soon as my schedule is set for the summer, I am going to do a survey looking for people who want to do "Fixed Gear Friday", or "Single Speed Saturday", or "Single Speed Sunday". BTY, as the ride leader for a couple of NFBC rides, I require that all participants have brakes on front and rear wheel. The exception is for beach cruisers. They may get by with brakes on the rear wheel only.

Angus, my status is about to change. I ordered a custom track bike frame with water bottle bosses, brakes and road bike handlebars. My builder has not yet started cutting the tubing. What is the BB drop on yours and what are your crankarm lengths?
What hubs are you running? What crankset are you running?
