Ride Description: Gravel, mountain, and fat tire bikes come join the fun of off-road riding through the beautiful Four Creeks State Forest. Meet at the Winn-Dixie parking lot in Callahan in front of The Pig Bar-B-Q, where we might eat after the ride. The first and last 2 miles are paved, otherwise dirt roads and vehicle trails. There are 30 mile and 40 mile routes. If it is dry, gravel bikes might run 14 to 16 mph while fat tires may go 10 to 12 mph. There is no potable water supply on the route, so drinking water for the whole ride needs to be carried. Rest stops can be taken at Hobbs, Thomas, or Sauls landings on the creeks. Go to RideWithGPS.com routes, 'Four Creeks State Forest - 40 mile' or 'Four Creeks State Forest - 30 mile' to download TCX, GPX or FIT files for your GPS device.
In the State Forest all open roads, closed roads, and fire breaks may be biked on. So if a closed yellow gate is encountered, go around it. The gates are for stopping vehicle traffic only.
