NFBC Charity Ride Team

Mission Statement
The Charity Ride Team was created to represent the North Florida Bicycle Club in local charity rides. It is hoped that the Charity Ride Team will promote camaraderie among the club’s members while "cycling for a cause", and also provide greater exposure of the North Florida Bicycle Club and its events such as the Tour de Forts and Endless Summer Watermelon Ride.
This team is appropriate for all levels of cyclists from beginner to experienced. There are mileage options available that are appropriate for any style of bicycle (touring, mountain, road, time trial, etc). Some of these rides also include options for running, triathlon, and family-friendly events.
Club Jerseys are required to earn club points and mileage. See Requirements and Rules for more details. The schedule of upcoming events is below.

Requirements and Rules:  Charity Ride Team Rules

We encourage club members to join our Charity Ride Team and help us fundraise for these locally and nationally recognized charities. Please note that some of these rides will only require a registration fee and no additional fundraising. All monies contributed and raised will be associated with the North Florida Bicycle Club and the individual fundraiser.
Most fundraising is tax-deductible!
Florida Honor Ride February 17 (St. Pete, FL)

Join the NFBC Project HERO Jacksonville during the 2018 Honor Ride in St. Petersburg Florida. The Honor Ride is a unique cycling experience where active service members, injured veterans, first responders, and the general public all get to ride together. Route options are from 25-60 miles. Registration fee is $55 with no additional fundraising required. Len Burroughs and Valerie Gambino will be the ride leaders for this event.

Mt. Acosta Classic - February 17 (an afternoon ride!)
Challenge yourself to ride as many laps of the Acosta Bridge as you can while supporting the Jared Bynum Scholarship Foundation supporting our local youth in Northeast Florida. On this short and completely closed bridge course, you can take your rest breaks at any point on the course. Last year, I even took a break at the top of the bridge to snap a photo and grab an extra cup of gatorade. This event is particularly well-suited to spectators, so bring your cheerleaders! Don’t forget to wear your NFBC jersey and sign in at the club tent to earn club miles! Registration fees start at $45 for the 1 hour challenge and $75 for the 3 hour challenge. No additional fundraising required.

Katie Ride for Life - April 21st
This could be your month of April century ride! The Katie Ride for Life supports the Katie Caples foundation for organ donation and is a beautiful ride through Amelia Island. You also have the option to bring a mountain bike (like I did last year) and ride the Fort Clinch trail system. A fun run and triathlon are also available. Don’t forget to wear your NFBC jersey and sign in at the club tent to earn club miles! Registration fee is $50 with $125 additional tax-deductible fundraising required.

Bike MS Kick Off and Training Ride - July 21
Haven't registered for the October Bike MS two-day event? Just want to come out to the party by the beach? We want you to join us and it’s only $5 if you register in advance ($10 day of)! This July 21 event will provide full SAG for 40 & 20 mile ride options including rest stops, lunch and post event beverages. Additionally, we will have a 10 mile, no drop ride for all who are curious about group riding and unsure about your pace and current ability.

Rotary Bike Ride - August 25
A fun 29 or 67 mile ride through Green Cove Springs. Registration fees start at $40 and no additional fundraising is required. Lunch is provided after the ride! All the money raised will go toward the local charities which the Green Cove Springs Rotary supports (scholarships, food pantry, local schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and more). All money raised stays in local charities.

BikeMS PGA Tour Cycle to the Shore
October 13-14
This was the main charity event of 2017 and could be your month of October century ride! We ride from Jacksonville to the Daytona Beach Hilton (a variety of routes if you don't want the big miles). We basically take over the Hilton and have a giant party on the patio with free beer, massages, great food, and fun. The next day, we all ride back to Jacksonville where the party continues at the finish line. Don’t forget to wear your NFBC jersey and sign in at the club tent in Daytona Beach to earn club miles! More details to come soon! Registration fees start at $35 with an additional $250 in tax-deductible fundraising required. If you're new to the BikeMS event, I have some coupon codes for a free registration! I only have 10, so please send an email to if you're interested in signing up! First 10 take them! All other team members can use code TEAMUP for a 15% discount on registration fees!

American Diabetes Association: Tour de Cure - December 1st
The Tour de Cure is back in World Golf Village for 2018! Registration fees start at $10 with an additional $200 in tax-deductible fundraising required.
